- Incheon Institute is a comprehensive research institute that was established to support the self-governance of Incheon. Since its establishment in 1996, it has served as a think tank of Incheon providing in-depth analysis and suggesting reasonable alternatives.

Accomplishments of research divisions in relation to focal projects
▶ Jemulpo Renaissance Research Division
Finding practical alternatives for the Jemulpo Renaissance Project and reinterpreting the space by discovering the value of the location of Jemulpo Renaissance
- Research on practical alternatives for creating an urban innovation space for Jemulpo Renaissance
- Research on urban design elements of the Jemulpo Renaissance Project, smart city implementation plans, citizen engagement strategies, environmental issues and responses, park and green space maintenance and networking plans, etc.
- Interpretation of historical and site values of the industrial hinterland around Incheon Inner Port, etc.
▶ Global Urban Research Division
Diagnose Incheon's city brand and competitiveness, present sectoral tasks for sustainable development, and explore ways to strengthen global networks through research on overseas Koreans
- Offer diagnosis of Incheon's current situation based on global city indicators and recommendations for the city's development
- Propose basic directions and tasks for creating a platform city for overseas Koreans
- Propose direction and tasks for Incheon in supporting the education of next-generation Koreans living overseas, etc.
▶Global Industry Research Division
Conduct a comprehensive review of Incheon’s industrial vision, innovation, human resource development, settlement conditions, and startup ecosystem in the era of digital transformation, and explore industrial strategies to improve Incheon's urban competitiveness in the future.

▶ Citizen Happiness Research Division
Lead Incheon's policy agenda on citizen happiness and support the realization of the goals of the 8th democratically-elected city government by measuring happiness levels and discovering sectoral policy tasks to promote citizen happiness
- Examine the meaning and direction of citizen happiness policies through 「Urban Policy and Citizen Happiness」
- Survey on the level of public happiness of Incheon citizens
- Happiness of Incheon citizens seen through social big data, etc.

▶ Urban Society Research Division
Systematic preparation for the era of local autonomy (49 projects in total)
- Research on assessment and improvement plan for the comprehensive evaluation system of Incheon City's county and district administrative performance
- Analysis of the demand for additional foreign educational institutions in the Incheon Free Economic Zone for elementary, primary, and secondary education
- Improvement plan for the subsidy rate of Incheon City's subsidy programs
- Study on the policy direction for Incheon as a Tourism Hub City
- Job structure improvement plan for Incheon City's integrated management of civil service jobs
- Research services for the administrative system reorganization of Incheon Metropolitan City, etc.
▶ Economic Environment Research Division
Fostering future strategic industries and creating a sustainable living environment (66 projects in total)
- Study on the aviation finance policy direction for the Incheon Metropolitan City
- Assessment of policy issues for small business owners and preparation of responses
- Plans to integrate crowdfunding and voluntary contribution program for hometown
- Plans for managing microplastic waste in Incheon's coastal ecosystems
- Examination of ways to improve incentives to attract more businesses through revisions to the Free Economic Zone Act
- Analysis of the socioeconomic effects of hosting the Overseas Korean Administration in Incheon
▶ Transportation & Logistics Research Division
Carried out research on safe and convenient transportation services (35 projects in total)
- Study on the basic concept for introducing new means of transportation in Yeongjong International City
- Study on how to develop and revitalize tourist roads
- Selection and basic concept development for the core industries (groups) that make up the maritime industry cluster
- Research on Incheon-style logistics system to promote a global logistics hub
- Research service for the quasi-public management of the Incheon Metropolitan Bus System
