- The Incheon Institute is an Incheon Metropolitan City Government-sponsored research institute established in 1996.
As of 2019, a total of 100 employees work for the institute in order to design urban policies and advise the city government.

Realizing a city of future, peace & safety
- Designing Incheon City’s urban development future: measures to boost the ‘Gyeongin Axis’
(neighborhood of the normalizing zone encompassing parts of the Gyeongin Expressway and the existing old Gyeongin rail line)
- Designing Incheon City’s urban development future: measures to boost the development zone in the North
(the city’s northern residential area and the factory complex)
- Researching Incheon City’s vision and strategies as “peace city” in the era of peace and cooperation with North Korea
- Study on the diagnosis of safe city in Incheon: road infrastructure, urban environment infrastructure
- Researching measures to manage Incheon City’s marine waste
- Analyzing spending habits within Incheon City, particularly centered around credit cards
- Managing achievements of Incheon City’s urban regeneration project and reviewing monitoring plans
- Measures for boosting Incheon City’s data industry
- Analyzing achievement and reviewing management measures of Incheon City’s gas emission reduction project
- Designing comprehensive plans for Incheon City’s cruise project

- DTopic: “Airport Economic Zone: Mutual Economic Development between Airports and their Neighboring Areas”
A total of 12 events were held in the 1st half of 2019, and 20 more events are scheduled to be held in the 2nd half of the year.

▶ Joining Megacity Think Tank Alliance Forum as official member
- Megacity Think Tank Alliance Forum is an international network of R&D organizations studying city administration support of mega cities in Asia.
- Through its annual assembly, working level meetings and academic symposium, the forum shares information about urban issues and countermeasures.
- Member organizations include: The Seoul Institute, Beijing Municipal Institute of City Planning and Design, Centre for Liveable Cities of Singapore, Shanghai Urban Planning and Design Research Institute, Tianjin Academy of Urban Planning and Design, Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies, Busan Development Institute, Hanoi Institute of Social and Economic Development, Hanoi Urban Planning Institute.
- The Incheon Institute plans to share high-quality research achievements in urban policy with member organizations in various cities.
