Responding to COVID-19 and Setting a Direction for Incheon Population Policy

  • Research on public perception surveys of Incheon municipal administration policies
  • Research on financial management plans based on the structure of financial expenditures by the Incheon Metropolitan City Government

▶ Education & welfare

  • Current status of and direction in which to take education on peaceful unification for students in the Incheon area
  • Research on support for building up assets that ensure income for persons with developmental challenges

▶ Culture & tourism

  • Research on plans to support the cultural and art activities of the disabled in Incheon
  • Evaluation and policy of Incheon’s barrier-free tourism

▶Northeast Asia & International affairs

  • Analysis of spending patterns within Incheon City, focusing on the use of credit cards
  • Promotion plans for the data industry in Incheon

▶ Urban planning

  • Initiative for the future development of Incheon City: Promotion strategy for the Gyeongin Axis
  • Achievement management and monitoring for Incheon City’s urban regeneration project

▶ Climate & Environment

  • Research on managing marine waste in Incheon City
  • Achievement analysis and management of Incheon City’s emissions reduction project

  • Topic: “Roles of Think Tank in Metropolitan Area: International Cooperation in Urban Diplomacy, Atmospheric Environment and Industry & Economy”

▶ 2020 Yellow Sea Peace Forum

  • Venue: Sheraton Grand Incheon Hotel
  • Topic: “Peace City Incheon and the Way of Peace on the Korean Peninsula”

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, some academic events are replaced by webinars, while others are postponed or canceled.

06. News focus in external affairs

▶ An update of the 「Examination and Enhancement Action Plan 2020 for the External Research Cooperation Network」

  • Provide an overall review of the network and propose a solid action plan based on 2019 research findings on how to promote external research cooperation for Incheon Institute
  • Pursue diversification of promotion methods—from hosting academic events to co-hosting joint research, publishing policy reports, and using IDI Urban Research as a linkage
  • Transition from sharing completed study outcomes to adopting new research demand
  • Share research directions, lists of research topics, and regional issues with partner institutions
  • Lay the foundation for people-to-people exchanges: Understand each other’s circumstances and conditions and discuss mutually beneficial implementation plans
