- With an aim to support the self-governance of Incheon Metropolitan City,
The Incheon Institute (II) was established as a comprehensive research institute for urban policies in 1996.
Since that time, the institute has served as a think tank of Incheon City, offering in-depth analyses and reasonable alternatives.

- IPublic contributions toward private development projects, including urban maintenance and urban development
- IEstablishment of the 2040 Global Metropolitan Mega Plan and research on urban planning systems
- ITransforming Incheon into an accessible city for persons with disabilities and establishing a support plan
- IStatus of Incheon’s Residents’ Association pilot program and future development plans

06. News focus in external affairs
▶ Project to commemorate the Incheon Institute’s 25th anniversary
- Date: Friday, April 23, 2021
- Review the Institute’s achievements over the past 25 years while identifying the necessary tasks to reach our vision of becoming “a key research center that leads the future.”
- Contribute to local communities that are suffering due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic while providing team members with an opportunity to bond
- Hold various events, including a celebration ceremony, a celebratory video message from Tianjin Academy of Social Sciences in China and Kitakyushu Science and Research Park in Japan, a Talk Concert, a book fair, a promotional video/character/illustration competition, a photo competition, and the “25” Charity event for local communities
▶ Operation of the Incheon City Research Network (ICReN)
- Established the Incheon City Research Network (ICReN), a research network that brings together public organizations, to suggest alternative measures and seek comprehensive methods and solutions based on the characteristics of each organization to resolve the various issues Incheon faces.
- Participants: Incheon Housing and City Development Corporation, Incheon Transit Corporation, Incheon Tourism Organization, Incheon Facilities Corporation, Incheon Environment Corporation, Incheon Medical Center, Incheon Institute, Incheon Credit Guarantee Foundation, Incheon Technopark, Incheon Foundation for Arts & Culture, Incheon Global Campus Foundation, Incheon Foundation for Women & Family, Incheon Institute for Talent &Lifelong Education, Incheon Social Service Agency, Incheon Office of Education’s Institute for Education Policy
- Joint projects in 2021: conducted joint research in the fields of economy, industry, and culture, and held joint policy communication forums with the Incheon Metropolitan Council
